Cardinal Care Medicaid is the federally funded medical care program for Virginia individuals who are elderly, blind, disabled, dependent children, and pregnant women. The program offers medical coverage for doctor visits, emergency room visits, hospitalization, prescriptions, medical supplies and equipment, nursing home costs, and home health care. Medical Assistance Program (Cardinal Care Medicaid) provides medical care for public assistance recipients and medically needy persons, i.e, persons of low income who can meet their maintenance needs but have insufficient income to provide the cost of medical care.
