Who We Are
The Supported Living Center provides housing and residential treatment for sixteen men and women with staff supervision and psychiatric rehabilitation services. Most individuals begin their stay at this level. At the onset of admission, a thorough baseline assessment is performed and an individualized treatment plan is created with the resident. At this level, our staff educates residents about their mental health conditions and the importance of medications management. They also work with residents to develop and refine the daily living and coping skills needed to manage their condition. Each resident must participate in the program where individual skills training, counseling, classroom education, and community activities are offered each week.
Eligibility Guidelines include:
- Primary diagnosis of a thought disorder, mood disorder, or anxiety disorder.
- No primary diagnosis of personality disorder, eating disorder, a developmental disorder, or significant intellectual impairment.
- No medical condition that requires home healthcare or hospice care.
- If substance use is identified as a treatment issue, the applicant must be willing to participate in community-based substance abuse services as recommended and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Applicants with a recent history of suicide attempts, self-injury, and/or aggression will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Must have a desire for increased independence and recovery.
When they are prepared, residents will move from the Supportive Living Center to Gateway’s Supported Living Apartments, which offers on-campus apartment living. In the third and final level of Gateway’s program, residents transition to independent living in the community.
