Who We Are
Dickenson County Hospice and Dickenson County Home Health are locally owned and operated. Dickenson County Hospice provides an on call nurse available 24/7. Hospice care is provided by a team of professionals available based on the needs of the individual. The following services are available to the hospice patient and family:
- Nurse provides instructions on the patient's care and medications, assesses symptoms, and keeps the physician informed.
- Social Worker is also available to assess resource needs and provides support to the patient and the patient's family.
- Nursing Assistant provides personal care and some homemaker services such as bathing, changing bed linens, light house work, and assistance with other activities of daily living.
- Clergy/Chaplin is available for spiritual support if desired.
- Volunteer may also be available to run errands, or even just sit and read to the patient.
Any medical condition that is determined to be in the last stage which will likely result in the death of the patient within six months can qualify an individual for hospice.
