Who We Are
Respiratory care is provided at St. Charles Respiratory Care Center, including screening and diagnosis for Black Lung and other respiratory ailments, preventive care for respiratory infections, medical treatment, medical physicals, laboratory services, patient education, pulmonary rehabilitation, smoking cessation program, audiometry, and benefits counseling (a benefit which extends to widows of miners as well).
Their program continues to develop and provide a holistic approach to service delivery to coal miners, (active/inactive and retired/disabled) who suffer from occupationally acquired respiratory impairments, as well as to those patients who suffer from other respiratory impairments.
Stone Mountain Health Services Benefits Counseling and Lay Advocacy Component have proven to be and are still one of the leading resources in the nation in securing Federal Black Lung Benefits for coal miners and their widows.
The mission of Stone Mountain Health Services is to promote and provide quality primary health care that is accessible, affordable, and community-based for the people of Southwest Virginia.
