Who We Are
Carilion Clinic participates in the Every Women's Life (EWL) program, a public health program that helps uninsured, low income women gain access to free breast and cervical cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduce death rates and improve treatment options. Mammography is an important preventive health procedure for women. For early detection of breast cancer, the best option is regular screening mammograms for women over the age of 40.
Every Woman's Life (EWL), a program that is federally funded through the Virginia Department of Health, Carilion Clinic is able to provide these invaluable preventive services free of charge, provided you meet these qualifications:
- You have a limited income, are between the ages of 40 and 64, and are a full-time Virginia resident.
- You have no health insurance, no Medicaid or Medicare, or are under insured.
Younger low-income women between the ages of 18 and 39 may also be eligible for free breast and cervical cancer diagnostic testing.
