Who We Are

District 19 Community Services Board's Crisis Assessment Center (CAC) provides an assessment site for law enforcement to use as an alternative to incarceration and as a services access point. The Crisis Intervention Team's (CIT) Crisis Assessment Center (CAC) provides onsite emergency services and clinical personnel who can determine the clinical status and assess treatment needs for the individual, including security to support the site in accepting a transfer of the Emergency Custody Order (ECO). The Center possesses ready access to dispositional options including Temporary Detaining Order (TDO) beds, crisis stabilization, detoxification, and other community-based services.

The Crisis Assessment Center provides immediate crisis intervention for individuals who present with behavioral health, substance use or situational crisis. The goal of the CAC is to reduce the number of unnecessary hospitalizations and incarcerations in the community. Services include:

  • Assessment and triage;
  • Pre-admissions evaluation;
  • Brief crisis counseling;
  • Crisis de-escalation;
  • Psycho-education and skill building;
  • Linkage and referral to additional community resources.
