The Norfolk City Health District seeks to promote health, prevent disease, and protect the environment throughout the community. Services are provided in local health department clinics, schools, homes, and other sites within the community. Fees are based on a sliding scale for individuals and children who are eligible (some services are at no cost). Services include (but are not limited to):
- Clinics - Family Planning, HIV/AIDS Testing, Immunizations, Pregnancy Tests, Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Testing and Treatment, Tuberculosis (TB) Screening, Well Child Clinic, Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program
- Environmental Health Programs - Onsite Sewage & Water Program, Food Protection, Rabies Prevention, etc.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response (such as a pandemic or natural disaster)
- Disease Prevention - elimination, prevention, and control of communicable diseases (HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, STDs, and tuberculosis)
