The Senior Housing program offers eight affordable independent living facilities and two affordable assisted living facility. Each maintains its own waiting list, so contact each property for more information. Rent may be 30% of family income or be a minimum and maximum limit.
- The Lincolnian Residences, located in the Lincolnia section of Alexandria, offer 26 efficiency apartments with subsidized rents for low income seniors age 62 and over. Full kitchen; private bath with shower; cable TV hook-up; utilities included; emergency pull cords; shared laundry room; noon and evening meals available; accessible units. A full-service senior center is located on the site. Call 703-914-0330.
- Little River Glen, located near Fairfax City, offers 120 one-bedroom apartments with below-market rents for moderate income seniors age 62 and over. Utilities included; emergency pull cords with 24-hour monitoring; laundry room on each floor; noon meals available; accessible units. A full-service senior center is located on the site. - Olley Glen, located on the Olley Lane and Little River Turnpike campus, offers 90 one bedroom apartments housed in 3 buildings for Senior 62 and over. Utilities included; washer and dryer and dishwasher in each unit; lounges and sitting areas in each building; accessible units; landscaped courtyards, covered outdoor walkways between buildings and emergency pull cords with 24-hour monitoring. - Gum Springs Glen, located in the Gum Springs/Hybla Valley section of the county along U.S. Route 1, is the county's newest senior residence. It offers 60 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with below-market rents for moderate income seniors age 62 and over. Residences overlook a landscaped courtyard; utilities included; cable television hook-ups; accessible units. Safety features i.e. grab bars and smoke detectors; Personal Emergency Response System. - Herndon Harbor House I and II, located two blocks from historic Old Town Herndon, offers 120 one-bedroom apartments with below-market rents for moderate income seniors age 62 and over. Utilities included; cable television hook-ups; exercise room, sitting areas and community room in each building; shared laundry room on each floor; accessible units; safety features include grab bars and smoke detectors; Personal Emergency Response System available; landscaped courtyard; and an Adult Day Health Care Center. - Morris Glen, located in the Springfield/Kingstowne area of Alexandria, offers 60 one-bedroom apartments overlooking a landscaped courtyard with pond with below market rents for moderate income seniors age 62 and over. Assisted Living:
- The Lincolnian Assisted Living, located in the Lincolnia section of Alexandria, offers 26 semi-private assisted living beds for low income seniors age 55 and over, with up to 15% of the beds available to disabled persons age 55 to 61. Services include three meals per day, snacks, laundry service, medication administration and some assistance with activities of daily living, all at one low monthly fee. - Braddock Glen Assisted Living has 60 semi-private furnished studio and one bedroom suites, including bathrooms and showers; emergency pull cords with 24 hour monitoring and resident assistant coverage.
