Who We Are
The Department of Emergency Medicine of VCU Medical Center has a proud history of serving the central Virginia area. The VCU Health System is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Central Virginia and one of 5 in the state. Offers 24 hour, on-site surgical staff and dedicated operating room space, along with round-the-clock access to laboratory services and sub-specialties.
The Emergency Department provides care in three specialized treatment areas: Adult Acute Emergency, Child and Adolescent Emergency and Non-Acute Care. Each treatment area is staffed with highly qualified, board certified emergency medicine physicians, internists and pediatricians.
The Department of Emergency Medicine is home to the Virginia Poison Center.
