Health Care Advocacy

The mission of Northern Virginia AHEC (NV AHEC) is to increase access to health care by expanding and empowering the primary health care workforce. The NV AHEC works to improve access to health and human services for the most vulnerable members of the community. Programs are primarily directed to healthcare providers working with the poor, the uninsured or under-insured and the area's large number of immigrants and refugees, all of who have significant difficulty accessing primary health cares services. Specifically, NV AHEC provides cultural competence training, interpreter training, on-site interpreter services, document translation and consultation.



Health Care Literacy is promoted through workshops, etc.
