Goodwill's Work Adjustment Training (WAT) program provides a one to three-month training program designed for individuals who have difficulty obtaining or maintaining employment. This program works to assist in developing realistic vocational goals while teaching basic work skills needed to enter any occupation or skills training program. Emphasis is placed on building physical stamina, emotional tolerance, and overall work behavior associated with entering or re-entering competitive employment or a supportive work environment.
Hands-on training is available in packaging, processing, and tagging of donated merchandise and performing janitorial tasks. Along with these and other work experiences, group sessions are held that cover topics such as:
- Communication and Interpersonal skills
- Interviewing skills
- Employer Expectations
- Appropriate workplace appearance
