New Vision, Assistive Technology Center for Vision Impaired

New Vision at Goodwill offers education, information, and resources to individuals with visual impairment.  The Assistive Technology Center provides individualized instruction in various software programs that make computers accessible to people with vision impairments. With this equipment, individuals can gain or regain access to the benefits of a computer.

The trained instructor provides guidance and instruction to enable each student to attain a level of comfort and competence in things such as:

    Accessing books, recipes, and magazines.
    Browsing the internet.
    Sending and receiving e-mail.
    Downloading and listening to audiobooks.

The Center is equipped with a scanner, printer, braille embosser, and internet access. Using programs such as Jaws for Windows, Open Book, Zoom Text, and Duxbury, sight/print-impaired persons can gain access to a new level of independence and information. With our software and system, surfing the web, reading magazines, online banking, and sending and receiving emails become a reality. Call for more information.
