Crisis services offered to children and adolescents who are at risk of entering the hospital or have marked reduction in their psychiatric, adaptive, or behavioral functioning, or an extreme increase in personal distress. Crisis Intervention provides up to 30 days of short-term counseling intended to prevent exacerbation of the condition and provide treatment in the least restrictive setting. Services are provided in the office, home, and community.

Intake Process
Call the Access Center or walk in at The Burrell Center, located at 611 McDowell Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia 24016. Children and youth may walk-in for screening without an appointment between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. There are extended walk-in hours for children and youth intakes on Tuesdays until 4:30 PM. The children and youth entrance to the Access Center is on the left side of the main Burrell Center building, highlighted by a Children’s Access Center sign. The adult entrance remains through the main Burrell doors in the center of the building.
