Who We Are
The Concerned Citizens Committee program of the Lancaster/Northumberland Interfaith Service Council can provide emergency home repairs and maintenance for families and individuals who cannot afford to buy services and those whose health or safety are threatened. Work usually includes exterior and sometimes interior repair; restoration of pumps, water heaters, and sinks; construction of wheelchair ramps and stairs; and roof repairs. In general, Committee responds to plumbing, electrical, roofing, and water emergencies. Due to current funding, roof replacement is unavailable unless we have volunteers to do the installation.
The main focus is the elderly, disabled and families with young children
Ramps: Also may construct ramps for individuals whose mobility needs require the use of a ramp and who do not have the means otherwise to have a ramp constructed.
Funding comes from donations, charitable foundations, individuals, and civic clubs. Work or repair projects are done by volunteers. Materials are provided by Concerned Citizens Committee of the Interfaith Service Council. Residents are always asked to help if possible, but their inability to help does not restrict the project. The property must be owned by the resident, except in a few emergency situations.
