Public Fire and Life Safety Education Programs

Mission of the Virginia Department of Fire Programs is to provide funding, training and educational programs to enhance public safety throughout the Commonwealth.

Fire and Life Safety Education is provided by members of the fire and emergency services community to the general population.  Through news releases, public service announcements and radio and television interviews, the Office advises the public of latest information. 



Education assistance and financial support for conferences and seminars to further the education of fire and emergency services.



Be Fire Safe Grants provide equipment (smoke alarms, CO alarms) to local jurisdictions and distribution to fire departments and other organizations involved in fire safety projects. The Virginia Department of Fire Programs is comprised of regional offices operated by dedicated staff along with the Virginia Fire Services Board, working together for the good of Virginia's fire and emergency services community.
