Who We Are
Lynchburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority (the Authority) provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of programs such as Low Rent Public Housing. The Authority operates 328 units of public housing at four locations in Lynchburg: Dearington Apartments, Birchwood Apartments, Langview Apartments and Brookside Apartments. Units range in size from 1 bedroom to 5 bedrooms.
Eligibility for participation is limited by income. Applications are processed by staff at The Authoirty in accordance with HUD regulations. The application process is an application, a credit report and a landlord reference questionnaire. A criminal background check is also a requirement.
NOTE: The Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list is currently closed to new applications. Visit the website to see the waiting list.
Other programs include activities include acquisition and demolition of dilapidated housing, provision of sites for new housing, housing rehabilitation through loans, construction of new housing, land for open space green areas.
