Employment and Work Adjustment Training for Persons with a Disability

The Work Adjustment Training (WAT) program of Goodwill Industries of South Central Virginia takes place in Goodwill's donation, retail, and production areas. The goal of WAT is to help individuals understand the meaning and value of work. They develop appropriate work habits enabling them to move on to competitive employment in the community. WAT offers the opportunity to "earn and learn." Clients are paid while participating in this program. These clients receive ongoing training and counseling to help them achieve independence and reach their performance goals. They are evaluated on their skills, attitudes, and work performance. This program is short-term typically lasting from 30 to 90 work days.
