Who We Are

HOPWA is a federal program known as Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS. This program provides ongoing financial assistance for rent. It is similar to Housing Choice Voucher but offered just to people with AIDS.

Tenants pay either 30% of adjusted income or 10% of gross income for rent, whichever is higher. NVFS pays the difference. There is a waitlist. For more information about the waitlist, call 703.642.0700 or email hivresources@novaregion.org.

HOWPA Short Term Assistance may be available for mortgage assistance, utility assistance, security deposit or first month's rent. Please call for details.
