Who We Are
Lockwood House offers studio and one bedroom apartments for independent living for those age 62 and over and/or those with disabilities who need an apartment designed for individuals with mobility impairments. Total number of units is 99; total of accessible/modified units is 99.
The building entrance is wheelchair accessible. There are curb cuts, ramps with handrails; grab bars (shower/tub), wide doorways (wheelchair accessible), low cabinets, sinks, countertops, elevators with Braille, handicapped parking spaces, parking lots are well lit. No central dining room. Mini-van scheduled for regular trips. Public transportation is Metrobus.
Apartments include range, frost-free refrigerator, garbage disposal, wall-to-wall carpeting, individually controlled heating and A/C, window coverings and emergency call systems in each unit.
Low rent apartments: the government gives funds directly to apartment owners, who lower the rents they charge low-income tenants. You can find low-rent apartments for senior citizens and people with disabilities, as well as for families and individuals.
