Who We Are
Each local health department (Brunswick, Halifax, and Mecklenburg Counties) provides environmental services. The department enforces and inspects city and state codes relating to environmental health (restaurants, swimming pools, beauty shops, grocery stores, vending machines, etc.). The staff addresses problems relating to health in commercial properties, responds to citizen complaints and concerns, investigates animal bites, and offers education and outreach to the community about rabies.
These services protect and improve the health of the community through comprehensive efforts to prevent, control, and eradicate communicable diseases. The staff strives to eliminate environmental health hazards, and recognize, prevent, and control occupational health hazards and illnesses.
