Who We Are
Each local health department (Brunswick, Halifax and Mecklenburg Counties) provide environmental health services. The department enforces and inspects city and state codes relating to environmental health (restaurants, swimming pools, beauty shops, grocery stores, vending machines, etc.). The staff addresses problems relating to health in commercial properties, responds to citizen complaints and concerns, investigates animal bites, and offers education and outreach to the community about rabies.
This program protects and improves the health of the community through comprehensive efforts to prevent, control, and eradicate communicable disease. Eliminates environmental health hazards, and recognizes, prevents, and controls occupational health hazards and illnesses.
