Who We Are
The Fredericksburg City Health Department provides environmental health services that address concerns with public food service, soil, water (sewage and wells), animal bites, and consumer complaints. The department issues permits for the operation of restaurants; evaluates properties for onsite sewage disposal systems permits and inspects these systems for approval; evaluates properties for onsite well permits and approves the installation of wells. There is a set fee for septic and well permits.
Animal bites are investigated and advice on preventing the spread of rabies is given. The department also investigates general environmental complaints which may be public health hazards, evaluates swimming pools, and performs environmental investigations for lead.
