Who We Are
At Sentara Halifax Reginal Hospital, we provide quality care to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. We understand that health care expenses are often unexpected and paying for services can be overwhelming. If you cannot pay your bill, we can help.
Sentara offers financial assistance programs to patients who qualify. These programs include charity, assistance with Medicaid eligibility and uninsured discounts. All assistance programs are based on family size, income and other resources.
We will also help you arrange a reasonable payment plan. If you have trouble paying your bill, it is important that you tell us. The government requires that hospitals bill all patients for services and make appropriate attempts to collect. If you ignore your hospital bill, it may go to a collection agency and could affect your credit.
Sentara also participates in a number of financial assistance programs. These programs were designed to assist our patients in resolving their financial obligations for hospital services. Call the number on your statement for details on eligibility requirements or to learn more about Sentara Charity Program (English and Spanish) and Sentara Uninsured Patient Discount Program
If you meet federal and state guidelines, you may be eligible for programs such as Medicaid, SLH, Social Security Administration (SSA) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI.)
