Crisis Service Coordination, Halifax Child and Family Services

At Southside Community Services Board, Child and Family Services Crisis Service Coordination provides children and their families with assistance to stabilize unsafe behaviors, manage stressful situations, and maintain their child's' residency in their home communities. Services include

• developing individualized crisis stabilization plans,
• assessing need for services,
• referring and linking families to support services,
• coordination with other service providers,
• monitoring, and advocacy.

The program focuses on effective intervention for children who experience thoughts and feelings of harm to themselves or others and have significantly poor functioning at home, school or within their communities that may require psychiatric hospitalization or removal from their their homes. Children with a primary developmental disability diagnosis are linked to developmental disability Support Coordination services.
