The mission of The National Brain Health Center for African Americans is to raise awareness of the issues of cognitive health among African Americans by working through networks of faith-based institutions and by establishing partnerships with organizations and individuals dedicated to their mission.
They have three focus areas for patients and their caregivers.
- Brain Health Education: understanding how the brain functions and what’s required to stay healthy to help against Alzheimer’s, stroke, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injury
- Mobilization and Advocacy: faith institutions help to mobilize communities and aid individuals in participating in services related to caregiving and brain health equity
- Networking: of organizations and individuals to raise awareness and help to eliminate health disparities among African Americans
