Who We Are
Region Ten Community Services Board (RTCSB) Mental Health Skill Building Services (MHSS) are designed to help a person with serious behavioral health disorders understand their condition and establish personal recovery goals. Recipients learn and practice skills important to achieving psychiatric stability, independent living and becoming a productive member of the community. MHSS includes training in the following areas:
- skills related to the individual’s health and safety, activities of daily living and use of community resources,
- assistance with medication management and monitoring health, nutrition and physical condition.

Serves residents of and people located in the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson.
Other Eligibility Criteria
Individuals must have had a history of at least one psychiatric hospitalization or other intensive treatment and demonstrate a clinical necessity for the service arising from a condition due to mental, behavioral, or emotional illness which results in significant functional impairments in major life activities.
